Swedish Massage

Swedish Massage is the most commonly used form of classical western massage. It was developed over 100 years ago. Strokes are generally performed in the direction of the heart, at times with passive or active movement of the joints. Used specifically for relaxation, increased circulation, relief of muscular tension, and increased range of motion.

Myofascial Release

Fascia is a tough connective tissue that spreads throughout the entire body in a three - dimensional web from head to foot. It permits the body to retain its normal shape and maintains the vital organs in their correct positions. The tissue covers muscles, bones, nerves, organs, and vessels down to the cellular level. Malfunction of the system due to trauma, poor posture, or inflammation can bind down the fascia, resulting in abnormal pressure on any or all of these body components.

Myofascial Release consists of sustained pressure and movement into the fascial system in order to eliminate fascial restrictions within the body.

Neuromuscular Therapy

Neuromuscular Therapy is a specialized form of deep tissue massage in which digital pressure and friction are used to release areas of strain in the muscle. These areas of strain are called tender or trigger points, and are the cause of muscular pain symptoms. Trigger points are areas of hypersensitivity in a muscle caused by overstrain. These are small areas of the muscle in which there is a contracture of muscular tissue. Blood and nutrients are lacking in that part of the muscle and therefore the muscle spindle is unable to relax. Trigger points cause pain, fatigue, and weakness in the muscle.

NTM Pregnancy Massage

Nurturing the Mother Pregnancy Massage utilizes a comfortable, secure, side-lying position to avoid undue pressure on a growing abdomen and the lower back. Mothers are completely supported by pillows, keeping top hip, knee, and ankle on the same level to avoid pulling on the sacroiliac joint and to maximize blood and lymph circulation. NTM uses a combination of the following methods: calming Swedish massage, gentle range-of-motion & stretching movements, deep tissue work, abdominal massage, lymph drainage, acupressure, & reflexology.
